Many of you have asked how to copy DVD content to an iPod. We recommend you always read the copyright details of the DVD you intend to transfer.
1.) First you will need a copy of Handbrake http://handbrake.m0k.org/ (Available for both Mac & Windows)
2.) Insert your chosen DVD, if your DVD Player software opens, then quit it.
3.) Start Handbrake and select the detected volume radio button and click the open button.
4.) Choose the longest title in the list this is shown in time.

5.) Under the destination section we choose MP4 and the MPEG-4 Video / AAC Audio codecs.

6.) We then add the destination and name for our iPod video file.

7.) In the video section, set the Average bitrate to 400. Up to 768 can be entered, but a higher value will increase the output file size.

8.) Now choose 2-Pass encoding. It does take twice as long, but it really improves the quality, without altering the file size.

9.) Click the Audio & Subtitles Button. You can choose your own Sample rate. A higher sampling rate, gives better quality, but the produces a larger file. The bitrate should stay at the default setting of 128.

10.) Click back to the Video section and Click on the Picture settings. Change the width to 320, the height will automatically change in proportion .

11.) Click on the rip button and wait until it says “Done”.This could take up to 40 minutes depending on the options selected.
Once complete you can drag your new mp4 in to your iTunes library, then add it
to your iPod.
